I was mixing my session and now I get no sound from my 2 lead vocal track: I can see the wav files, there is no automation, set to read, going to stereo output?
Any ideas ?
Thx ?

Ok, I’ll admit to working hard on this mix but the numbnutz award probably goes to me for not noticing my master volume had tanked: sheesh, who hired this guy ??

Sometime's you need to re-boot the program, sometimes your machine, sometimes your brain.

I’ve solved many a problem with a good night’s sleep. Coming back to things after a break from it can really do wonders sometimes. Glad you got it solved!

I use Logic all the time, but I can't really understand what you are trying to explain.
How can your master volume 'tank'?
What ended up happening, did you figure it all out?

a Track that were playing , suddenly I couldn’t hear but could see the wave file. I hadn’t adjusted the master volume fader but it was all the way down. Of course, when I raised it I heard things fine.
I had no automation on so I still don’t know why the fader went to zero but all good now !
Thx!

Even a similar experience except my problem was the mute button...

Sometimes I move a mouse suddenly and somethings happened, but I don't know what I did. But sometimes there's an answer, but it's not easy to find. A not so old template's sends weren't working, which drove me mad for thirty minutes. So I had to create a new one.
Then when I went to comp, I was hearing two tracks overlap. Turned out that the fades being created to comp were too big and in settings, there's an adjustment. So now it's fine again, but that never happened before, and I've used Logic exclusively for quite some time now.

It happens pretty rarely, but the only bug I have with Logic these days is drop-out related. It's usually about 500 milliseconds long and it tends to happen after I've moved or dragged take to a different track (or a copy of a track). I've checked things like mute automation (which is what it sounds like). Sometimes nudging it a few milliseconds left or right seems to fix it - sometimes adjusting the fade in or fade out works. Sometimes bouncing the mix off-line does the trick. Sometimes nothing seems to work and I end up re-recording. What's weird is once the problem happens on a project, it seems to happen in a couple places. I'm pretty sure it's not me but you never know with these things.

I've never had a dropout, but this I know for sure, Flex Pitch creates artifacts because when a note rises or falls, it automatically chops it into pieces so you can adjust pitch. In doing that, it creates a pop or scratchy sound, rendering it useless, and sometimes, going back to the original part leaves the artifact anyway.
This has driven me nuts at times, ruining tracks, and leaving me with a choice of leaving it and suffering it forever, or redoing a vocal, which risks losing the better performance. I usually copy the main vocal track so that if I need it, it's there. I have many songs where cut the original offending glitch out, and inserted the copied piece. It typically needs some adjusting of levels to try to match the main vocal track, which can be tricky.
I don't have Melodyne, but I do have Waves Tune, which also sucks. I'll eventually get Melodyne, but I keep hoping one of Apple's updates fixes this once and for all.
I barely use pitch correction, but sometimes one or two words jump out because they're sharp or flat, and bringing them just a little closer to pitch allows me to use the whole track.

Sometimes, its just a fader all the way down. This is the most common ghost in the machine, by far.

Really? Yikes, I've had it on EVERY track I've ever used Flex pitch on. In fact, I'm afraid to use it for fear of corrupting the track itself. I'll send you a track that'll show it.

I would go further and say, compared to Auto Tune, and Melodyne, (both of which I have owned and had extensive experience with) Logics Flex pitch is the easiest and best outcome for me
cheers

Similar things happen in Pro Tools also. I can load in a blank template, add all the tracks I want and certain 'channels' just go to zero volume without any automation. You reset and they still go back, so I make a new channel and move the waveform to that channel and start over.
It is annoying, but not as bad as a failed card in a tape machine.

Its probably a setting on one or 47 of the 1,278 mixer/view/settings pages. Sorry, have I ever mentioned Logic confuses me? I own Logic X and think the synths and plugins sound fantastic. I wish I could use them in Studio One and PT. Joking aside, I sincerly hope you figure it out.

What,I have to turn my computer on for it to work properly: who knew ? Seriously, I was thinking, what if we ask Johnken to create a DAW sub category here and then we could create dedicated threads by DAW: Logic, Pro tools, Reason etc.. So, then we could post specific DAW questions and or advice, resolution, workarounds by DAW type. What do you think: good idea and JK should get on that ASAP, instead of watching football ?

I think what triggered this is getting system overload messages?
I upgraded to High Sierra and although things mostly work, there seem to be some little bugs in Logic. For example, anything to do with opening , closing , saving a file, takes longer to open and I see the spinning beach ball for a few seconds. That never happen with Sierra. I notice too some clips seem to be oddly moved around and or truncated so I am having to go in and edit and I know I didn't record them that way.
What do Logic users do for file management, i.e., getting rid of old takes etc., to reduce the size of the session and remove extraneous things ?

The one thing that I missed that came with PT was the Expand2 synth, which I think sounds fantastic. Just the other day I picked it up for FREE through dontcrack.com - Couldn't believe it!

Good question, my Logic folders are admittedly a mess. I have to admit that I don't save what they call "alternate" versions partly cause I'm not sure how the files are managed between versions.

There is a drop down selection there for cleaning up stuff, which I have done but I don't know how extensive it actually is ? I am going top check out those features and see what they do.

I've played with that here and there. Not sure how effective it is, though I'm talking more about saving different mixes.. I've got folders in folders in folders, which makes sense to me, but navigation is a pain.

Understood but if you just saved as name. 1, .2, .3, they would all line up chronologically in sequence ?
