Are there any Antelope 32HD users on this board? Would you mind sharing your experiences? It looks like a great piece of kit, but it seems a fair amount of users are complaining about driver issues. Any real world experience regarding Hardware inserts in Pro Tools HD with this interface? Is it sample accurate? Thanks in advance. I think this may be my first post on this forum, although I've purchased some stuff from the classifieds before. Anyway, thanks for having me. Y'all seem like a swell bunch!

I think this may be my first post on this forum, although I've purchased some stuff from the classifieds before. Anyway, thanks for having me. Y'all seem like a swell bunch! I have the plain vanilla Antelope Orion 32, bought about a year ago from Sweetwater. No problems with it at all so far, running Win 7 SP1 and Reaper. Sorry, can't offer anything about ProTools, we don't use it. The only "problem" with it (not a real problem, just a minor inconvenience) is that it MUST be connected to the internet according to their instructions during the software installation and validation process. I've heard that if you're the sort of person that can't follow instructions it can result in problems that require a call to tech support but if you're not an idiot there should be no problem. The other, very minor thing is that once it's set up and running it will bug you for an internet connect to search for updates during bootup but you can just ingore that. You only HAVE to be connected is when you first set up the system and if you want to download any updates, although I believe that we were able to install a software update off a USB stick without being connected. I'm not 100% positive about that though as I didn't actually do that myself, I had my music partner do it. It sounds great and, as much as I hate to say it, we're actually running the 24 track Studer a lot less now, saving a pile of money on power and tape. With my old converters (which will remain nameless) we only used the computer when it was absolutely necessary. Now, instead of mixing from the 24 track tape we just dump all the tracks to the Orion and mix from there. (Which also gives 8 extra tracks for additional overdubs and for mixing back to.) There doesn't appear to be any noticeable hit in sound quality. One small caveat - if you don't already have them the 8 DB25 breakout cables (with adapters, if necessary) will run you a significant additional chunk of change (But Sweetwater gave them to me at cost since the factory doesn't permit deep discounts on the Orion.)

Thanks for the info, John! Glad to hear it's been stable for you. Are you running it via USB? I have more DB25 cables than I care to admit, so I'm good there.
