Well, then there are at least some people making "hit" records (whatever those are these days) who, by your definition, aren't "pros".
I wouldn't argue that, except that some of them seem to be making a lot of money.
Please give me an example of poorly edited hit tracks. Frankly I don't remember the names of tracks I don't like, for the most part. (Why would I want to?) But the charts are filled with tracks where I hear them and think "Wow, that could have been a GREAT record if only some idiot hadn't (over)quantized the beat or applied remedial autotune to the point where it's as boring as cornflakes.
You might not regard such tracks as "poorly edioted*" but I do. I'd much rather listen to something that isn't "perfect" but is interesting and doen't have all the genuine emotion processed out.
* - yes, that's a typo but I'm leaving it in because it's at least a bit humerus.
