I have owned over the years..... the BAE 1073 (with eq), AML (with EQ), Great River (without eq), PRE73 (without EQ), Seventh Circle (without eq), 1073LB (without eq) I think that covers them? lol
Lately I have tended to prefer other preamps tbh.

Agreed. Takes more time. Josh send me one of your Neves so I can check it out in further detail U wre singing a differnt tune few minutes ago, funny how things change This isn’t an iPhone. I wouldn’t worry about how cool it looks. The BAE comes FAR closer (and sometimes if not identical) to the layout and assembly of a real Neve. How is that? I said from the beginning all the same things. I think I am going to use that new block feature in this forum!

To review: (I said all of this from the beginning) 1. All I'm saying is the BAE unit (while might not look cooler than the STAM in your opinion) is actually more labor intensive, (btw its actually closer to the original) and I would say requires a tech with a certain skill. (because not all on a single PCB). 2. $1,000 does not get you very far when considering what you get with the BAE (no eq). It's actually not a terrible rip-off price as you claim. It's just that Josh is getting a major discount because of various reasons. (3). Yes I've owned the BAE (with EQ), which is different from the circuit without EQ.... never owned the STAM --> If the Mods want to go back and delete all this garbage I would NOT be opposed

This sounds as if the Stam defacto sounds better. What makes you think this? Have you tried them side by side? Do you have any files to share or can you guide me to the files you refer to? I'd like to hear them. Thats very subjective. There is no defacto. I just know what I like and what I don't. I heard some people who thought sowters are dark and grainy, which is OK but those are the very things I like. All the clones sound slight differnt. I'm sure a decent recoding can me made on any of them I love SOWTERs too and the fact Josh made a custom one with them for this preamp is pretty sweet. ....Going to have to hear this for myself eventually.

I would simply like to form my own opinion and therefor asked, what you base your assumptions on? I would truly love to hear decent files, that compare these. Are there any out there?

Look, if someone offers me a Stam Neve and a BAE, for free, I will for sure choose the BAE. I have used both and that's my preference. Not because of the sound, but other small things.
That said, I still think the BAE is overpriced. Especially the 1073 single preamp. Very simple schematic, very few parts, and the price tag is just not justified in my opinion.
So, if I decide to buy another 1073, I would order the Stam right now, I mean, if there were no delay problems.

Enough bickering. I’ve owned both. Haven’t had them side by side, but Both are great. Neither is “better.” I love the Stam with the Sowter.

I saw your email btw Need to get back to you with a date for shipping you know what I am swamped with work and almost alone at the lab with this virus going on. Most of the workers can't come in as they live with their parents or elderly people. On top of that my sister was in hospital and I was isolated for 2 weeks as well but getting there. She is home and safe now Be safe guys
