Ouch, that’s pretty harsh. Oh sorry and you are probably going to hate me for this, do you want a trophy for participation? In the day and age of music where you do everything to survive you need to be a clear cut above. Disagree? Really, with streaming etc.?
Be better, these harsh prick's outside this forum has hit me multiple timeS and y'know what sometimes you shrug it off but other times it's worthy of their merit. If you cannot just sit down and listen to the advice of others than igorance takes it's toll. Geez I offerred to lose £3K to train Svart or pay even more for a flight to me, if sheer dim witted arrogance is the issues here you deserve what you get. IME I've been blinded by the knowledge of those who contributed to RGO alone and many are a fool to think otherwise.

Only to listen to something recorded with what's likely to be gear filled with "cheap" opamps and mixed on NS-10s...? The cheap opamps in the consoles are way better than what's in prosumer garbage today. The NS10s were powered by amplifiers mostly way better than what's in our monitors. I still have an old Yamaha A100a that I used to power some Realistic minimus 7s that was hooked up to 4track Yamaha cassette multitrack. The amp and speakers still can do their thing.  |

Mate, I'm probably the most emotionally numb person you'll meet. It's a problem and I'm working on it, I've had a lot of issues and had to shut myself down. Anyway, are you telling me that you've loved every song you've ever heard? Is everything equal in your book? I'm not trying in any sense to be an ass here, although there is a set standard to the greatest, that's what I adhere to. Not many can do it but when they can I am genuinely impressed. Apologies for speaking mind but it's just how it is.

Horses for courses I suppose. I also can't monitor at high levels or my ears get blown out for the day. I'm barely above speaking volume when monitoring and I won't turn it up beyond that. Even watching movies or whatever, I barely turn it up to hear the voices clearly and then that's good enough. I rather don't like the ball-shaking bass some folks have dialed up. The problem is Svart you mIght be an amazing EE but your mixes or masters have been sub par. I don’t trust your opinion and before anyone thinks I’m a dick how’s about this? I will take a week off work which will cost me 3k just to train you or I will buy a plane ticket plus so you can visit my house and experience it first hand. I’ll even buy beers and meals. I don’t piss around with this stuff. You can go check out my latest mix in the finished section and tell me what you think of it. Oh and have I heard one of your mixes? I can't remember if I have or not. |

Youre confusing or misreading what I’m saying. I have no problem if you like Svarts mixes or not. It’s great to have strong opinions. Good on you for pursuing sonic perfection. My only problem is with your delivery. Your post came off as unnecessarily rude. Maybe I’m misreading you to a degree as well, it’s certainly possible. But what I’m saying has nothing to do with your monitor preferences, what songs anyone likes or doesn’t, who had good or bad mixes. What I’m saying is that the tone of your post came off as brash and unprovoked. |

It was disappointing and if I am frank , a little upsetting to read. I have physically met @svarrt and he is a lovely person, very intelligent and extremely helpful. I have also heard his mixes ... that he has tracked himself... and they are certainly not what I would describe as sub par... although what is sub par anyways...? Isn't every mix fantastic and sub par at the same time....unquantifiable perhaps... I have heard yours and they are really great. We have had so many great people here and it has always been a very safe space to operate in technically and artistic emotionally with people taking the encouragement high road, rather than the criticism low road. I think the reason we have so many of those people like grammy winners, industry legends, million record sellers.. is because of the demeanour with which everyone conducts themselves. The reason I come to this forum is because of all the great people. I never feel judged, and even people with way more experience and talent are willing to share and discuss things with me. No one is saying you can’t have an opinion, but calling someone’s work sub par on a public forum is pretty classless if you ask me. I’m very sorry if you’re going through a rough spot, but that doesn’t excuse that kind of behavior.

I am at a complete loss to recall anything that could even come close to that. Really sorry to hear about your Aunty. I am actually sort of speechless...and honestly a bit shaky after reading that.... again sorry Wiz I mean apologies for losing my cool there, it only happens once or twice a year and it does take something serious to get me going. Unfortunately this started coming across ever so slightly lynch mob and nah, sorry but there's better ways to approach it.
I never once mentioned Chris's character (I don't just think, I know he's great) plus I've only heard a limited sample and if someone's clients are happy who cares what I think? This is purely about audio and the reason I came to RGO is because it is a bit more unfiltered. Unlike Nick I don't want a safe space, I need in a constructive and helpful manner the truth because that's what's going to make me a better engineer and it might even save me money fingers crossed. As it stands right now I'm rusty as hell and it's not really the equipment in question it's my talent. I'll admit that to anyone though..
Forgive me but tact has never been my strong suit, logic is and it's getting too late to change that. I do not see any issue with people having flaws and working on them, the whole planet's existence is trial & error so is a lot of our experience. It's not a negative thing, just a learning experience if you're open to it.

Anyway, I still don't think super-duper expensive monitors are really worth the cost. Some don't like the monitors I've chosen for myself either. I know dudes who make hits on 400$ beat up NS10's and think my 5K$ monitors are complete overkill.
We're all going to have our own likes and dislikes and that's just life.
